ma'at yoga academy teacher training policies

Welcome to Ma'at Yoga Academy. These policies are intended to create a safe, respectful, and professional learning environment while providing clear expectations for all participants. By enrolling in one of our trainings, students acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agreed to the following policies.

Tuition & Payment Policy

A non-refundable $500 USD deposit is required to reserve your place in the training.

The remaining tuition balance is due no later than 30 days prior to the training start date, unless otherwise agreed upon in writing.

Students registering within 30 days of the training start date are required to pay tuition in full upon acceptance.

Failure to submit payment by the due date may result in forfeiture of your reserved space.

Deposit & Refund Policy

The enrollment deposit of $500 USD is non-refundable under all circumstances.

If a student withdraws from the training after additional tuition payments have been made, refunds are generally not available due to the planning, staffing, and operational costs associated with the training.

At the sole discretion of Ma'at Yoga Academy, tuition paid may be considered for transfer as a credit toward a future teacher training. Training credits are not guaranteed and will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Should Ma'at Yoga Academy cancel or reschedule a training, students may transfer their tuition to a future training or request a refund of tuition paid. Ma'at Yoga Academy is not responsible for airfare, accommodation, visas, travel expenses, or any other personal costs.

Attendance Requirements

Teacher training is an immersive educational experience requiring full participation.

Students are expected to attend all scheduled classes, lectures, workshops, practice teaching sessions, and assessments.

Any missed hours may require additional assignments or make-up sessions before certification can be awarded.

Graduation Requirements

Certificates are awarded upon successful completion of the program.

To graduate, students must:

  • Complete all required contact hours
  • Successfully complete assigned coursework
  • Demonstrate competency in practice teaching
  • Meet the professional and ethical expectations of the training
  • Maintain respectful participation throughout the program

Ma'at Yoga Academy reserves the right to withhold certification if graduation requirements have not been met.

Student Expectations

Students are expected to arrive with curiosity, respect, and a willingness to fully participate in the learning experience.

Students agree to:

  • Participate actively in classes and discussions.
  • Respect fellow students, teachers, staff, and the local community.
  • Maintain professionalism throughout the training.
  • Practice within their own physical abilities.
  • Communicate honestly and respectfully.
  • Support a collaborative and inclusive learning environment.

Code of Conduct

Ma'at Yoga Academy is committed to creating a welcoming and supportive environment for all participants.

Students are expected to:

  • Treat everyone with kindness, dignity, and respect.
  • Respect cultural traditions and local customs while in Indonesia.
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
  • Refrain from disruptive, intimidating, discriminatory, or inappropriate behavior.
  • Respect the learning environment and training facilities.

Any behavior that compromises the safety or wellbeing of others may result in dismissal from the training without refund.

Anti-Harassment & Anti-Discrimination Policy

Ma'at Yoga Academy maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward harassment, bullying, discrimination, intimidation, or retaliation of any kind.

This includes conduct based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, age, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, or any other protected characteristic.

Students who experience or witness inappropriate behavior are encouraged to report concerns directly to the Lead Trainer. Reports will be handled respectfully and confidentially whenever possible.

Health & Medical Responsibility

Students are responsible for ensuring they are physically and mentally able to participate in an intensive yoga teacher training.

By enrolling, students acknowledge that yoga, meditation, breathwork, physical movement, and related practices involve inherent risks.

Students agree to:

  • Inform instructors of any injuries, medical conditions, or physical limitations prior to the training.
  • Practice within their own abilities.
  • Seek appropriate medical attention when necessary.
  • Accept personal responsibility for their participation throughout the training.

Liability Waiver

Participation in all classes, workshops, excursions, and activities is voluntary.

Ma'at Yoga Academy, its teachers, assistants, H2O Yoga & Meditation Center, and affiliated partners are not responsible for injuries, illness, accidents, theft, damage, or loss of personal property occurring before, during, or after the training.

Students participate at their own risk.

Travel & Travel Insurance

Students are responsible for arranging their own travel to and from Gili Air, Indonesia.

Because international travel can involve unexpected delays, cancellations, illness, or other unforeseen circumstances, comprehensive travel insurance is strongly recommended.

Travel insurance should ideally include:

  • Trip cancellation and interruption
  • Medical expenses
  • Emergency evacuation
  • Lost or delayed baggage
  • Flight delays or cancellations

Ma'at Yoga Academy is not responsible for costs resulting from travel disruptions or personal emergencies.

Accommodation & Meals

Accommodation and meals are not included in the base tuition unless specifically stated.

Optional accommodation and meal packages may be available.

Students are welcome to arrange their own accommodation and meals if preferred.

Photography & Media

Photographs and videos may be taken throughout the training for educational and promotional purposes.

Students who prefer not to appear in photographs or marketing materials should notify the Lead Trainer before the training begins.

Changes to the Training

Ma'at Yoga Academy reserves the right to make reasonable changes to the schedule, faculty, guest teachers, daily itinerary, or curriculum when necessary to provide the highest quality educational experience.
